It was Christmas Eve night, and we were going to his sister's house to watch the annual Christmas eve parade go by (as we have in the past few years). So, we were all outside on the front lawn (his whole family, friends, etc.) and the parade pulled up and stopped in front of the house and Santa and Mrs. Claus stood up holding a bright green sign with red sparkly letters that said "Lisa, will you marry Paul". And I turned and looked at him and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Naturally, I was ecstatic and I hugged him and said Yes.

Then my family popped out of a side street that they were on watching the whole thing, but not letting me know they were there beforehand. Then the town newspaper photographer came in sight and flashed photos of us. We wound up being front page news for the paper the next day. I could not have been more surprised, especially since my fiancéis sort of shy and that was completely out of character. Anyway, it was the best thing that ever happened to me!

It was Easter morning at 6am in 1999. He gave me my Easter basket and it had a single plastic egg in between all of the plastic grass. I thought for a second there that I had gotten ripped off. Where the heck was the candy? I opened the egg and sitting on the top of a Hershey's Kiss was my beautiful ring. It was the best Easter egg I have ever received.

Last month, my fiancé and I were on vacation with a few friends at Lake Tahoe. We were snowboarding at Heavenly Ski Resort from the Nevada to the California side. I stopped to take a break because my nose was running. I thought my fiancé was going to give me a tissue to wipe my nose. Instead, he pulled out a black velvet box, opened it and asked me to marry him.

I was so surprised and said, "Of course I will!" It wasn't until after his proposal that I realized that day marked our 2-year anniversary of our relationship.

Marek and I live in different cities, but we usually see each other every weekend. This particular weekend though, he told me he wouldn't be able to come in until Saturday morning. However, not to my knowledge at the time, he had my parents ask me to go to dinner with them on Friday night. I accepted, and told them that would be great since Marek wasn't coming in until Saturday anyway.

My parents told me the reservation was for 7pm, and since we live on opposite sides of town, we would just meet there. I got there at 7pm, and there was Marek with my parents! Marek had set the whole thing up a couple of weeks earlier. He had met with my parents at 6pm to ask their permission for my hand and spent the rest of the hour visiting.

When I got to the restaurant and saw him there, I began shaking! He told me that he knew how much my parents meant to me, and thought it would be very special if they could be a part of this wonderful moment! and it was very special! Then, Marek got on bended knee and proposed. It was Perfect!!!!

My Fiancé and I talked a lot about getting married. I really wanted to get engaged soon but he told me that we should wait another year. This went on for months. About a week before our two year anniversary he told me that I had a really big confession to make. He told me that he had been lying to me for months about something and he really needed to get it off he chest. I said okay lay it on me.

He said no that he would rather wait until March 7th (our anniversary) when we could be alone having a nice dinner. He booked reservations for a really nice place that over looked La Jolla Cove in San Diego. After dinner we walked along the beach. Suddenly he stopped and said, "Okay this is as good of a time as any to tell you my lie." I said okay and took a deep breath. He said, "I have been lying to you for months about proposing to you. I want nothing more than to marry you."

He then got down on one knee and said, "You are my everything, will you make me the happiest man alive by doing the honor of marrying me." He then pull the box out of his pocket. Of course I said yes!!

On a band stage, at the Jazz Fest in Metairie, LA, in front of all of my friends and hundreds of people that were there for the music festival. He said that he wanted to ask his best friend to marry him. I loved it.

The second weekend in August is when they have the Brecon jazz festival. David & I live in Cardiff and don't have a car, so we decided to hire one and go to the festival on the Saturday. We'd never been before, and both of us were really looking forward to it. Some fantastic bands were playing, and we had a wonderful time.

The car didn't have to go back until the Monday morning, so we thought we might as well take advantage of having it. On Sunday afternoon, we picked up some pasties and drinks from the local supermarket and set off for a drive and a picnic. We finally ended up in the Mumbles, near Swansea, sitting on a hillside, looking down over a beautiful little cove.

When we'd finished eating, I packed up all the wrappers in the cool bag and said that we should be off. David said that he had one more thing to do, bent down to his bag and, to my great shock, pulled out a ring box, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

I was slightly hysterical, I have to admit, as the surprise was too much for me. He had to prompt me for an answer. Of course, it was "Yes!" He slipped my engagement ring onto my finger, and that was the first time I saw it. I was shocked again by how well he'd chosen. Later, he told me that he'd been carrying the ring box around all day at the festival, but we'd been having such a good time he didn't want to detract from the pleasure we were taking in the music by asking me.

Good thing he didn't. I wasn't fit for much that Sunday evening. All I did was grin, telephone my family and feel deeply, deeply surprised and happy.

After talking about marriage for a couple weeks, I was pretty convinced my fiancé was not going to propose. He always joked that if he ever did propose it would be with a 25-cent Wal-Mart ring. Which made me think that he was just too cheap to bother with proposing. He's in the Army and had received orders to Korea.

About two weeks before he was suppose to leave my brother, my fiancé and myself drove about a half-hour to a town close to ours to see a movie. After the movie, Tommy (my fiancé) asked me to come back and get him in a few hours because he had some things he was suppose to take care of. I was immediately suspicious, but decided to let it go. After a few hours I called his cell phone wondering where he was and if he wanted me to come and get him yet. When he answered he told me he was in a local bar with a couple friends and they were having a little going away celebration. So I told him to call me when he needed a ride home. After five hours, he finally called, but told me to meet him at the Holidome. Figuring he was just doing something sweet, I drove the 30 miles and met him at the hotel.

When I got there he took me to a room on the third floor, before he opened the door he told me that I had to do two things for him, first I had to keep my eyes closed until he told me to open them, and second I had to do everything he told me to with no questions asked. He led me into the room, took off my clothes, then led me into the bathroom and helped me into the bathtub. He told me to open my eyes, and I found myself in a bubble bath. But in the bottom of the bathtub was about two dozen of these little bubble containers with cheap little rings in them. Like the kind you get in the machines outside Wal-Mart.

So he tells me that my ring is somewhere in there and I have to find it. I went through almost all of them, opening each and every one trying to find the actual ring. When I finally found it I was stunned. It was beautiful, and he took it from me and opened the container and put the ring on my finger. Then handed me this amazing card describing in detail how happy I had made him and how he knew we were meant to be together, and oh yea would I marry him. Of course I said yes, we hugged and kissed, and I dragged him into the bathtub. We kept all the rings and containers, so someday we'll have them to show our children.
