PETALING JAYA, March 10 (Bernama) -- Bridal Fair 2006, the largest wedding gown fair and trade in Malaysia expects a very rosy year for weddings with the desire for romance and fairy tale weddings continuing to prevail in spite of the many economic challenges in the country.

"Malaysia has the potential and capability to be the major wedding provider in the Asean region with the many creative and talented people in this industry," he said during the launch of the Bridal Fair 2006, here Friday.

Law said the same event last year managed to get at least 500 couples to sign up for the special wedding packages and this year's three-day event could attract as much as 1,000 couples.

"With the success of this event, we are aiming to attract couples from Singapore with the proposed Bridal Fair event in Johor Bahru next year," he said.

Organised by the Nanyang Press Group of magazines, Feminine and My Wedding, the fair is being held at the Mid Valley Megamall here.

A total of 104 exhibition booths have been set up, comprising a one-stop shopping experience for weddings including dinner caterers, bridal hair-do and make up saloons as well as hotels and travel agencies offering honeymoon tour packages.
