Supersize your fashion options
This year, bigger is better. It's no surprise that it's the right time to supersize. Here are some of the biggest fashion hits on the menu this season:

  • Big heels. Start expanding your wardrobe options by rising to new heights. Go with big heels. In platforms or wedges, the chunky heel is stacking up to be a big hit, even if you can only stand to wear them for a few hours at a time.
  • Big hats. Another way to be healthy and be fashion-forward order up a floppy, big-brimmed straw hat or cotton bucket cap in a bright color. Whether you're going to church or to the beach, big hats are a great way to protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays.
  • Big bags. Finally, designers have brought back big, roomy bags, some of which even come with an extra "mini-bag" in case our shoulders start hurting. Go for a colorful slouchy hobo bag or a drawstring canvas satchel or a floral-embroidered tote.
  • Big baubles. Bling may be sparkling a little less in the fashion pages, but most of us love to pile on a big bauble or two or three. This season, layer on the longer chain necklaces or wrap a few chunky seashells around your neck, slip on a big rock of a gemstone cocktail ring, add a few big wooden bangles and big hoop or drop earrings and you've got big style.
  • Big sunglasses. If you've got allergies, are sleep deprived or just love staring at the glare from all those sunny days ahead, you might get some big relief this season. Just cover up those tired, puffy eyes with the biggest sunglasses around. They'll be easy to find this year. Just remember to look for ones that provide adequate UV protection.
  • Big belts. When it comes to belts this spring, the wider the better if you're going for the peasant styles. Since the focus is on the waist, the big belts are a cinch to shape up any wardrobe. Go for strings of big disks or rows of Western leather braids and studded buckles for maximum effect.
  • Big scarves. One of spring and summer's essentials, the oversized scarf or shawl is a great way to ward off the chills of a cool day or breezy evening. At the pool, these versatile accessories come in handy as a sarong wrap or swimsuit coverup.
